THE DIRECTIVE - LATEST

  • A number of previously uncertain items are now established by this formal publication:
    • it should be implemented in EU member states by 14th May 2000 at the latest;

    * In fact, at July 2001, 7 EU countries had still not implemented this directive! *

    • the simplification procedures have survived:
      • 'Basic' substances;
      • 'Low-risk' products;
      • 'Frame-formulations'.

  • The Health and Safety Executive are actively considering implementation in UK law.

* The UK implemented this directive as 'The Biocidal Products Regulations 2001' SI 2001 No. 880, on 6th April 2001. *
